Sponsor is National Geographic Society, 1145 17th Street, NW, Washington, DC 20036 (“Sponsor”).
TERM
The 2018 National Geographic GeoChallenge Coordinator/Coach Kick-off Survey Sweepstakes (“Sweepstakes”) begins December 11, 2018 at 12:01 am Eastern Standard Time (EST) and ends December 28, 2018 at 11:59 pm EST. All entries must be received by December 28, 2018 at 11:59 pm EST.
WHO MAY ENTER
Sweepstakes is open only to legal residents of the United States who are age eighteen (18) or older at the time of entry and who have submitted a completed GeoChallenge Coordinator/Coach Kick-off Survey 2018. Employees of Sponsor and its parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, agents, and advertising and promotional agencies and their immediate families (spouse, parent, child, sibling and their respective spouses, regardless of where they live) or members of the same household are not eligible. SWEEPSTAKES IS VOID WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW.
HOW TO ENTER
There is a limit of one (1) entry per person. Subsequent entries will be disqualified. To enter, complete the National Geographic National Geographic GeoChallenge Coordinator/Coach Kick-off Survey 2018. Entries are void if they are in whole or in part incomplete, illegible, irregular, altered, counterfeit, produced in error, or obtained through fraud or theft. By entering you agree to be bound by these Official Rules. Multiple entrants are not permitted to share the same email account. Use of any automated system to participate is prohibited and will result in disqualification. In the event of a dispute as to any registration, the authorized account holder of the email address used to register will be deemed to be the registrant or player. The “authorized account holder” is the natural person assigned an email account by an Internet access provider, online service provider or other organization responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted address. The potential winner may be required to show proof that s/he is the authorized account holder.
WINNER SELECTION
Random selection of the three (3) winners will occur on or about January 18, 2019 from among all eligible entries received. Winners will be notified by e-mail on or about January 25, 2019. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.
PRIZE
THE POTENTIAL WINNERS ARE REQUIRED TO SIGN AN AFFIDAVIT OF ELIGIBILITY AND LIABILITY RELEASE AND PUBLICITY RELEASE (“AFFIDAVIT”) WITHIN 10 DAYS FROM THE DATE OF NOTICE IN ORDER FOR SPONSOR TO AWARD THE PRIZE. NONCOMPLIANCE OR RETURN OF PRIZE NOTIFICATION AS UNDELIVERABLE MAY RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION AND SELECTION OF AN ALTERNATE WINNER.
Each prize consists of a $50 Amazon gift card (“Prize”). There will be three (3) total prizes, each with an Approximate Retail Value (“ARV”) of $50. Winners are responsible for all taxes and fees associated with prize receipt and/or use. No prize transfer, assignment or substitution by winner permitted. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute prize, in which case a prize of equal or greater value will be awarded.
REDEMPTION AND VERIFICATION
To redeem a prize, winners must respond within ten (10) days of prize notification. Failure to comply will result in the forfeit of the Prize and the selection of a substitute winner from remaining eligible entries.
All prize claims are subject to verification and compliance with the official rules.
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
By participating, participants agree to release, discharge and hold harmless Sponsor and its partners, parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, licensees, advertising agencies, agents and their employees, officers, directors, and representatives (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from any claims, losses, and damages arising out of their participation in this Sweepstakes or any Sweepstakes-related activities and the acceptance and use, misuse, or possession of any Prize awarded hereunder.
The Released Parties are not responsible for: (1) any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by entrants, printing errors or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Sweepstakes; (2) technical failures of any kind, including, but not limited to malfunctions, interruptions, or disconnections in phone lines or network hardware or software; (3) unauthorized human intervention in any part of the entry process or the Sweepstakes; (4) technical or human error which may occur in the administration of the Sweepstakes or the processing of entries; (5) late, lost, undeliverable, damaged or stolen mail; or (6) any injury or damage to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from entrant’s participation in the Sweepstakes or receipt or use or misuse of any prize. If for any reason an entrant's entry is confirmed to have been erroneously deleted, lost, or otherwise destroyed or corrupted, entrant’s sole remedy is another entry in the Sweepstakes, provided that, if it is not possible to award another entry due to discontinuance of the Sweepstakes, or any part of it, for any reason, Sponsor, in its sole discretion, may elect to hold a random drawing from among all eligible entries received up to the date of discontinuance for any or all of the prizes offered herein. No more than the stated number of prizes will be awarded. In the event that production, technical, seeding, programming or any other reasons cause more than the stated number of prizes as set forth in these Official Rules to be available and/or claimed, Sponsor reserves the right to award only the stated number of prizes by a random drawing among all legitimate, unawarded, eligible prize claims.
PUBLICITY
Except where prohibited, participation in the Sweepstakes constitutes the winner’s consent for Sponsor and its agents to use the winner’s name, likeness, photograph, voice, opinions and/or hometown and state for promotional purposes in any media, worldwide, without further payment or consideration.
CONDITIONS
THIS SWEEPSTAKES IS VOID WHERE PROHIBITED. This sweepstakes is subject to federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Certain restrictions may apply. Entries void if Sponsor determines the entries are illegible, incomplete, damaged, irregular, altered, counterfeit, produced in error, or obtained through fraud or theft.
Participants also agree (a) to be bound by these Official Rules; and (b) that Sponsor’s decisions are final on all matters relating to the Sweepstakes. All federal, state and local taxes, fees and surcharges on Prize are the sole responsibility of the Prize winner. In the event that a selected winner is ineligible or refuses the Prize, the Prize will be forfeited and Sponsor, in its sole discretion, may choose whether to award the Prize to another winner.
By entering, each entrant agrees to receive e-mails from Sponsor, its affiliates and subsidiaries regarding promotions and events. With each e-mail received, entrant will have the option to opt out of future e-mails from the sender.
RIGHT TO CANCEL OR SUSPEND SWEEPSTAKES
If for any reason the Sweepstakes is not capable of running as planned, due to infection by computer virus, bugs, worms, trojan horses, denial of service attacks, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of Sponsor that corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Sweepstakes, Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual(s) who tamper with the entry process, and/or to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the Sweepstakes. Any attempt by any person to deliberately undermine the legitimate operation of the Sweepstakes may be a violation of criminal and civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. Sponsor’s failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.
DISPUTES
Except where prohibited, entrant agrees that: (1) any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Sweepstakes or any prize awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by arbitration in the District of Columbia; (2) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering this Sweepstakes, but in no event attorneys’ fees; and (3) under no circumstances will entrant be permitted to obtain awards for, and entrant hereby waives all rights to claim, indirect, punitive, incidental and consequential damages and any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses, and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of the entrant and Sponsor in connection with the Sweepstakes, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the District of Columbia without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than the District of Columbia.

NOTICE TO INDIVIDUALS: REMOVAL FROM MAILING LIST: Any individual (or other duly authorized person) may elect to exclude the name and address of that individual from all lists used by Sponsor to mail skill contests or sweepstakes. To elect to have an individual’s name excluded from all such lists, submit a removal request in writing to: National Geographic Society, 2018 National Geographic GeoChallenge Coordinator/Coach Kick-off Survey Sweepstakes, Attn: Kathleen Kelly, 1145 17th Street, NW, Washington, DC, 20036. This notification system may be used to prohibit mailing of all skill contests or sweepstakes by Sponsor to such individual.
