We have invested in staff and programs dedicated to identifying individuals outside the United States, helping to ensure we find and fund the world’s best ideas in the fields of conservation, education, research, storytelling, and technology.

Regional Offices

In addition to our headquarters staff in Washington, D.C., we have regional programs and teams in Asia-Pacific, East Africa, Europe, and Latin America.

Asia-Pacific

The National Geographic Foundation for Science and Exploration – Asia, established in 2015, encourages residents or citizens of the following locations to apply: Brunei, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Laos, Macau, Malaysia, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam.

East Africa

The National Geographic / Howard G. Buffett Fund for East Africa, established in late 2014, funds projects implemented in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Europe Office

Our office in London, United Kingdom, established in 2017, strives to find, support, and enable both explorers whose projects are implemented in Europe and those who are citizens of European countries.
