Alexander Graham Bell Legacy Society

Named after National Geographic’s second president, the Alexander Graham Bell Legacy Society honors those who have included the National Geographic Society in their estate plans through a will, trust, charitable gift annuity, or by beneficiary designation of a retirement plan such as an IRA or 401(k). Legacy gifts from the dedicated members of this group fund the Society’s exploration, research, and education efforts around the the world. Membership & Benefits

You can become a member of the Alexander Graham Bell Legacy Society in any of the following ways:

  • Make a gift to the National Geographic Society in your will or trust
  • Establish a life-income vehicle, such as a charitable remainder trust or a charitable gift annuity, that names the National Geographic Society as a remainder beneficiary
  • Designate the Society as a beneficiary of your retirement plan assets, such as an IRA, 401(k), or 403(b)
  • Make a gift of life insurance or real estate
  • Designate the National Geographic Society as a beneficiary of a bank account

A gift in your will to the Society allows you to:

  • Decide how to take care of your loved ones and also make a philanthropic gift
  • Decide how much to give. National Geographic accepts gifts of all sizes—no gift is too small
  • Stay in control of your assets during your lifetime in case your financial circumstances change
  • Support the work of the National Geographic Society that you have read and heard about for decades
