On November 2, 2000, the first resident crew (Expedition 1) docked at the International Space Station (ISS). This group of three astronauts (one American and two Russians) lived in space for more than four months!

Onboard the ISS, the crew of Expedition 1 did a lot of unpacking! Space shuttles delivered more than 20 tons of equipment—from solar panels to exercise equipment.

International crews have stayed onboard the ISS ever since. Today, the ISS is home to Expedition 41, with astronauts from the United States, Russia, and Germany.
