On January 4, 2010, the Burj Khalifa, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, opened. The Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world. From its Y-shaped base to the tip of its tall tower, the building is 829.8 meters (2,723 feet).

Besides being the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa holds many other world records! It has more stories than any other building—163 above ground! It is also home to the world’s highest restaurant in a manmade structure—on the 122nd floor!

People living and working in the Burj Khalifa don’t need to spend too much time in the tower’s 57 elevators. The elevators can move at up to 600 meters (1,970 feet) a minute!
