Sciencetelling Bootcamp

A photographer tests the micro-copter cam on wildebeest migrations.

At the National Geographic Society, we believe in the power of science, exploration, education—and storytelling—to change the world. Our Sciencetelling™ Bootcamp helps our explorers and grantees learn how to communicate their important scientific discoveries in ways that build global geographic knowledge and empower us all to generate solutions for a healthier future.

At Bootcamp, participants learn how to showcase their work through captivating photos, compelling video, and written stories from the field from world-class National Geographic magazine photographers, editors, and digital video producers.

The course covers:

  • Public speaking
  • Videography
  • Photography
  • Narrative storytelling
  • Social media
  • Writing for impact online
Option One

Multi-Day Workshop

The multi-day course emphasizes hands-on training with teachers and includes field “assignments” to hone skills. Small group size ensures that each participant receives training, practice, and feedback that’s tailored to their area of work.

Option Two

4-Hour Workshop

The 4-hour model is a condensed version of the multi-day workshop that offers an overview of each subject area. This option is great for larger groups up to 100.
