This Atlantic puffin was spotted at Sumbergh Head, part of Scotland's Shetland Islands. Atlantic puffins spend most of their lives at sea, resting on waves when they are not swimming. The birds return to land to form breeding colonies during the spring and summer, selecting precipitous, rocky cliff tops to build their nests.
