On February 26, 2014, National Geographic Education recognized four members of Congress as the 2013 Geography Legislators of the Year: Senator John Boozman (R-AR), Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Representative Robert Aderholt (R-AL), and Representative Rosa DeLauro (D-CT). The event included a welcome breakfast and special remarks by Gil Grosvenor, NG Chairman of the NG Education Foundation Board, Emeritus, who remarked on each Member’s support of geography education.

The Geography Legislator of the Year award recognizes key Congressional leaders for their commitment to making high-quality geography education available for all K-12 students, preparing young Americans to succeed in an international future.
