In the modern world, we all make choices that have important implications for other people and places. To function effectively in today’s dynamic and interconnected world, every member of our society must have a fundamental understanding of how our world works.

National Geographic has adopted the term geo-education to describe experiences that help young people to understand their world. A well-rounded geo-education is essential preparation for employment and civic responsibility.

National Geographic believes a well-rounded geo-education is vital to prepare current and future generations to think critically, to see the implications of their actions, and to live peacefully and sustainably in a modern world.
