Film is often seen as a passive learning medium, but it can offer much richer learning opportunities. The Experiencing Film lessons developed at IslandWood take film to a new level with dynamic instructional strategies.

This video clip highlights the "Film Freeze Frame" lesson from the Experiencing Film curriculum guide. A sixth grade teacher leads her students through a lesson on observation using Island Roots, a film about Filipino American immigrants. Students observe a single frame of the movie and work together to appreciate the value of a primary source.
