Film is often seen as a passive learning medium, but it can offer much richer learning opportunities. The Experiencing Film lessons developed at IslandWood take film to a new level with dynamic instructional strategies.

This video clip highlights the "Auditory Perceptions" lesson from the Experiencing Film curriculum guide. A fourth grade teacher uses Teachings of the Tree People, a film about Native American culture, to teach a lesson in community connection. Students physically create a community web that identifies, explains, and acts out relationships represented in the film.
