Mollie Asbury is a marine ecologist who specializes in coral community surveys and species identification to support science-based reef conservation. Drawing on extensive fieldwork across diverse Pacific reef environments, her research focuses on documenting reef biodiversity and condition, and linking coral community patterns to the ecological processes that underpin reef resilience. Prior to joining Pristine Seas, Mollie completed her Ph.D. in Marine Biology at the University of Hawaiʻi Mānoa, where her research examined how environmental drivers and 3D habitat structure shape coral reef ecosystems across the main Hawaiian Islands. Her work combined large-scale field surveys with advanced photogrammetry approaches to generate insights into reef dynamics across environmental and anthropogenic gradients. She holds a B.S. in Marine Biology from Hawaiʻi Pacific University, where she worked with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to integrate large-area imaging into coral reef monitoring programs. Through her work, Mollie hopes to better understand coral reef ecosystems, the forces shaping them, and how science can guide their conservation.
