About this Event

Get an intimate, behind-the-scenes tour of our exhibition “Queens of Egypt” with photographer KEN GARRETT. This multisensory exhibition will bring you back in time some 3,500 years, to the 18th and 19th dynasties of ancient Egypt. Get to know such legendary queens as Nefertari, Nefertiti, Hatshepsut, and Cleopatra VII; see more than 300 prestigious objects, including monumental statues, sparkling jewelry, and impressive sarcophagi; and take a 3-D tour of one of the most well-preserved tombs in the Valley of the Queens.

Tours offered at 6 PM 6:45 PM, and 7:30 PM. Mingle with Ken and fellow attendees while enjoying refreshments at a reception following the tour.

In a career spanning more than 40 years working for National Geographic publications, photographer KEN GARRETT is known for his evocative images documenting ancient cultures, archaeological sites, and dramatic landscapes. As the son of legendary National Geographic editor Wilbur “Bill” Garrett, Ken grew up in a world of photographers and scientists, and spent his childhood traveling to far-flung places. He’s worked on all seven continents and has had more assignments in Egypt than any other National Geographic photographer.
