Get up close to elephants, lions, hippos, and zebras and glide in a mokoro (traditional canoe) through the wetlands of Botswana. National Geographic 2017 Emerging Explorer Adjany Costa will guide you through a 3D experience that transports you to the heart of one of Africa’s vastest, most biodiverse regions—the Okavango Delta—and reveal what is being done to protect it.
The National Geographic Okavango Wilderness Project is part of the National Geographic Society’s decade-long initiative Last Wild Places, an effort to protect at least 30 percent of the planet by 2030. This target is ambitious but based on the best science. Our ultimate vision is achieving a world where intact large wilderness areas contain the bulk of biodiversity on our planet, are resilient to—and help us mitigate—climate change, and continue providing the goods and services that are essential for humanity’s survival.
This is a Films Across Borders presentation.
