Iraq, September 27, 2008--MH 53 Pave Low helicopters fly their last combat missions in support of special operations forces in Iraq. The aircraft is being retired after nearly 40 years of service, according to the U.S. Air Force.

Highlights of the fleet's service include a lead role in the 1970 raid of the Son Tay prison camp, which improved conditions for prisoners of war in North Vietnam, and opening the first Iraq war in 1990.
