Genghis Khan will return someday, according to
a legend that still throbs in Mongolia, and
will lead the Mongols again to greatness.
He would find his homeland changed but little since the 13th century,
when it was the center of an empire stretching from Korea and China to Russia and Iraq.
True, the capital, Ulaanbaator, was radically altered while Mongolia
was a vassal of the Soviet Union, for 66 years until 1990.
